or to be abused?

a white chalk,
a black board
a mean teacher
a man-god

canes and belts
strokes and lashes
tears and blood
casts and patches

slaps and kicks
a vile senior
wounds and bruises
a broken Junior

are we here to learn
or to be abused?

tell me when un-sparing the rod
meant breaking the child?

Oh, this is so good. This poem climbs that bridge that connects nursery rhymes from childhood and deep poetry from the masters. Perhaps, this is fitting for a theme that takes the grown man to a time in his childhood when fear and abuse were real and dangerous monsters.
