BEAUTIFUL

I tell her she’s beautiful in every way
She doesn’t believe me
She gets affirmation from Mary Kay, L’Oreal and MAC
And right, they are
She’s beautiful, with and without makeup

I tell her she’s beautiful in every way
She doesn’t believe me
She gets affirmation from Oprah and Doctor Phil
And right, they are
She’s stronger than her struggles

I tell her she’s beautiful in every way
She doesn’t believe me
She gets affirmation from a Christina Aguilera song
And right, she is
She is beautiful no matter what ‘they’ say

What hurts is that she doesn’t believe me
She looks  for love in famous people
What hurts the most is that she doesn’t believe me
So I packed my bags and left

I love her but she doesn’t believe me
So I packed my heart and left

Sometimes, in our quest for love, we pursue
popular opinion when love is usually at ‘home’; a friend, a parent, someone around you. It’s so easy to take people for granted. Remember to say ‘Thank you’.

  1. This speaks to the heart. It’s true — but not at all beneficial — that in the quest for happiness, some people imitate/want to be like others. And some people don’t just get it; they fail to see the love in front of them. Such people often end up with sorrow and multiple heartbreaks.

    Great poem, bro.
