Rambles Of An Exhausted Poet

Today, I wore my darkness
I wore it well:I shined the darkest
There was light but I hugged the darkness
Theirs was dark but mine was darkest

Today, I joined the madness
I followed the craze, I fell the hardest
I battled life: I learnt its hardness
We all fell but I fell the hardest

Today, I joined the wrong scene
I did it and hoped I wasn’t seen
I opened my eyes and learnt a new sin
This is not my life; I don’t believe what I’m seeing

Today, I wrote a new song
It was right yet so wrong
But still I sung the new song
Feeling right has never been so wrong

Today, I penned this write
Seemed wrong but felt so right
I wrote till I couldn’t write
This is my passage; this is my rite.

Tomi Olugbemi

Ps- none of these things happened to me today…it’s a poem, it is art..hence the last stanza…
